Land Heritage Coalition Annual Meeting Feature Sustainable Lawn Care
March 22, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Land Heritage Coalition Annual Meeting on March 22nd to Feature Sustainable Lawn Care by Todd Harrington
The Land Heritage Coalition of Glastonbury, Inc. ( LHC) will hold its annual meeting on March 22, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the South Glastonbury Public Library. The LHC is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to support farming, open space preservation, and water and wetlands protection. Each year it holds a public annual meeting for the purpose of electing officers, updating the public about its activities, and providing an educational program. The public is invited to this free program and there will be light refreshments served. “This is a great time to reconnect with friends, members, and the board of directors,” stated David Ahlgren, LHC co-president. “The cozy and casual atmosphere of the South Glastonbury Library makes it ideal for this event and we hope to see a full house,” he continued.
Following the short business meeting, there will be an update on last year’s lawn care program that focused on effective, sustainable lawn care methods. Todd Harrington, an expert in organic landscape management and owner of Harrington’s Organic Lawn Care, will explain the benefits of organic lawn care. He will outline an approach to lawn care that puts the emphasis on the biology of the soil, known as the Soil Food Web. “It all starts with the soil,” explained Mr. Harrington. “If you develop a healthy soil that is full of life, then your plants, trees, and grass will flourish without the need for harsh chemicals.” Harrington will describe his company’s organic products and services and provide a brief overview of easy and effective ways that the average homeowner can improve the quality of their lawn without using dangerous chemicals.
