Lawn Care Specialist - 2019

Harrington’s is seeking a qualified lawn care technician that has an education in turf management or a minimum of 2-3 years experience in the landscape industry. Good people skills are a must, as we take pride in our outstanding customer service. Applicants must possess Turf and IPM skills in the identification of insects, weeds and disease of turf. Must have or obtain a CT Pesticide applicators license and/or CT Supervisory License. Applicant must have a clean driving record and pass a DOT physical. Heavy lifting is required, must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Technician will be operating a spray truck and applying both liquid and granular products including liquid compost, botanical and biological insecticides. Individuals must be professional energetic team players and interested in learning about organic and ecological plant care. Plant Health Care Specialist - 2019

We are seeking a qualified plant health care technician that has an education in horticulture or a minimum of 4-5 years experience in the horticultural industry. Good people skills are a must, as we take pride in our outstanding customer service. Individuals must be professional energetic team players and committed to practicing the principles of organic and ecological plant care. Applicants must possess PHC/IPM skills in the identification of native plants, insects and diseases of ornamental trees and shrubs. Must have or obtain a CT Pesticide applicators license, CT Supervisory License or CT Arborist preferred. Tree & Shrub pruning skills are also required for Plant Health Care Technicians. PHC Specialist will be operating a spray truck and applying liquid and granular products including compost teas, botanical and biological insecticides. Laboratory Technician - 2019

Applicants who have an interest in soil biology, horticulture, or agriculture and who have a passion for organic/environmentally friendly approaches to land care are preferred. A minimum of 2-3 years experience working in a support role in a laboratory setting. The technician will be primarily responsible for assisting the Lab Manager with chemistry and biological soil testing, analysis, and interpretation. This job requires a person who is organized, can manage their own work schedule, follows scientific protocols, and pays close attention to detail, and who can vigilantly maintain a clean work environment. The lab provides testing and analysis services on plant sap, tissue, soils, composts, amendments and liquid biological amendments. These tasks support our ability to make informed program recommendations and measure incremental progress. You will learn to process submitted samples for testing and analysis and perform various tests and reporting functions. High-level of comfort  w/computers, electronic equipment, and software including MS-Office a must. Candidate must possess a valid CT drivers license and have reliable transportation to work.

Chemical & Biological Soil Testing:
• Receive samples and complete log-in and sample preparation.
• Perform all sample testing requested by clients, following lab protocols.
• Record data in spreadsheet or database for timely review/reporting to customers.
• Produce reports from compiled data for delivery to customers.

Quality Assurance & Lab Safety:
• Complete regular Quality Assurance tests for compost, L.B.A. and other products.
• Follow appropriate quality assurance protocol to ensure integrity of soil testing data.
• Ensure all equipment is calibrated and working properly. Record any inconsistencies.
• Understand and follow standard lab safety measures and use equipment properly.
• Monitor and update lab inventory and drive efficient materials requisition and procurement.
